28th Annual Conference on U.S. – Turkish Relations : U.S. – Turkey: Overcoming Challenges in an Era of Change

The conference was attended by over 600 participants including many high level government officials from Turkey, the U.S. and Canada. The Opening Plenary session included remarks by Keynote Speaker, Muhtar Kent (TAC ‘71), Chairman of the Board and CEO of The Coca Cola Company, and Brent Scowcroft, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ATC. First TASSA-TOBB-WITSA Joint Symposium
The first TASSA-TOBB-WITSA Joint Symposium was held on Friday, at the Eugene R. Black Auditorium (H), The World Bank, 600, 19th St. NW, Washington, DC.

The theme of the symposium was “Science for Industry... Industry for Peace.” Kemal Dervis, Vice President and Director of Global Economy and Development and Edward M. Bernstein Scholar at Brookings Institution gave the Keynote Lecture. To accommodate those who were not able to attend on site, the program part of the symposium was web cast live and has been archived for future access.

TASSA (Turkish-American Scientists and Scholars Association) Announces
22nd Annual Meeting of the IEEE Photonics Society, Belek-Antalya, Turkey

The conference will be held at Ela Quality Resort in Belek, Antalya. The organization committee includes Selim Unlu (Boston University) as the general chair and Hakan Urey (Koc University) as the local arrangements chair. It is hoped that a number of travel awards (in the order of $500) will be available for participants through a simple application process. Selection criteria are as follows:

  • clear need for financial support
  • presenting a paper at the annual meeting
  • junior researcher (e.g. PhD student, post doc) or active Photonics Society chapter member

The society has six student travel awards allocated to the students attending and presenting at the annual meeting. Click here for details.
